Works well, syncs everywhere and is dare i say kind of fun?
Wow! 4.1 is a FANTASTIC improvement! Lots of polish, and seemingly small improvements that make everything better…AND syncing across the board is MUCH faster and more reliable (Os X, iOS, and the faster Watch app). The cash accounts on iOS are an incredible addition to allow manually keeping track of purchases you can validate against bank transaction info. Really great work on this update!
Also - I hope I never need the automatic backups, but I love that they are in there now!
Thank you for the great improvements!

TL;DR - It’s working well for me, much better than previous apps I have tried and the fact that it is connected across devices is making it easier for me to stay on top of things. I LOVE the customizable icons on accounts and categories…makes things much more interesting than the bland activity of finance tracking and easy to identify transactions and accounts visually. Beautfiul charts/graphs. Try out the demo from their site if you’re unsure. (I’d recommend getting the iOS app as well, though it’s not free… but at least they made it universal.)

I started off importing credit card, bank account, etc info from various financial sites and imported in various formats (QFX, OFX, CSV, QIF) without a hitch. I haven’t tried importing from another banking app so can’t speak to that, but assuming both the other app and this one are following standards it should be a non issue. On import it does let you make some adjustments depending on the type of format - ignore columns, map columns, specify the account, etc.
iFinance auto categorizes your purchases pretty well - you can add keywords to the catgeories to help smarten it up if it’s not catching your local favourite restaurant for example. You can run the auto categorize at anytime also to recategorize anything after you edit categories and keywords. The apps I have tried in the past made categorization a pretty tedious chore.
Transfers work well, but my one suggestion would be that they add an auto match in future. For example, when I specify one transaction in one account as a transfer to another, it adds a new matching transaction to the other account rather than trying to find an existing match. Assigning transactions as transfers was easy after import, but it did require that extra step of deleting a transaction for each transfer to make sure things were in balance. Jumping between transfer transactions from account to account is dead simple and the click of a button.
**update/edit - Transfers ARE available on iPhone I found, but they do not use a button as the ipad and mac apps do - it’s in the form of autocomplete when entering the ‘payee’ name of another account. works nicely!**
You can customize pretty much everything which is actually really nice - drop meaningful images on not only accounts, credit cards, banks, etc, but also categories and so on.
In Canada, there are no live connections so it’s basically importing and manual entry…which is what I had to do in my previous app, os standard banking app fare.
Stocks: pretty straightforward, includes graphs etc, keeps current numbers via Yahoo.
Nice looking graphs and charts give a quick gauge on where your spending is, and the easy categorization/auto categorization makes all the difference in these being useful here.
I’d recommend creating a top level folder to put all your accounts in, as it allows a bird’s eye view for searching and viewing everything regardless of which account/card and so on.
You can specify whether accounts or folders roll up/display their balances to the next one which is nice.
They have a demo on their site to try out for free, and a decent PDF of how to do things…though the iFinance 4 english one is under the German icon, and vice versa.
Mobile apps have allowed me to do a lot of what I can do on the desktop - the only thing I missed was you cannot create a transfer on the iPhone, but you can on iPad and Mac. Would be nice to add.
Apple Watch support is nice also - handy to add expenses when they happen and check on which accounts you specify.
